Employment Services

Sunstar Consultants provides integrated and comprehensive solutions and services, from sourcing, recruitment, training and deployment of Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs) to households.

The Hiring Process

Deployment of New/Transfer Foreign Domestic Workers (FDW)

We have Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs) from Indonesia, Myanmar, and India (Mizoram). Some FDWs may have prior experience in Singapore previously. Do find out from our sales consultants if they have prior working experience in another country.

Typical deployment time:

• New FDWs: around 2-3 weeks for straightforward cases.
• Transfer FDWs: can be deployed relatively fast and may take 4-5 working days.
• FDWs hired on Advance Placement Scheme: can be deployed as quickly as 3 days.
Do note that there are factors which may delay or expedite the deployment time (e.g. adhering to embassy processes).

Direct Hire of FDW

If you do have someone in mind to hire at the source country but are unsure of the process, Sunstar Consultants would be able to help you with the necessary application processes at the source country and while in Singapore.

Advanced Placement Scheme (APS)

Started as a pilot scheme in 2016, the Advance Placement Scheme (APS) allows employment agency to source for and bring in a specific number of FDWs before they have found an employer. Eligible employers will be able to conduct face-to-face interviews to select the FDWs that best meet their requirements. As these FDWs are already in Singapore, they can be quickly deployed to the households.

Employers must meet the requirements for the FDW Concessionary Levy Scheme in order to qualify for APS.

Security Bond Medical and Personal Accident Insurance Coverage

MOM regulations require you to buy a Security Bond for your FDW before she arrives in Singapore. This is a binding pledge to pay the government in the event your FDW breaks the work permit conditions.

Both Medical and Personal Accident Insurance for your FDW are necessary as part of your medical obligations during the helper’s employment in your household.

Medical Check-up

The medical examination must be performed by a Singapore-registered medical professional. This happens when they arrive and every six months.

Employers have to bear the costs for the medical examination, and any medical expenses arising from the screening. If you want more details on the health of your FDW, you may send her for a more thorough medical examination.

Work Permit

Application & Renewal

Sunstar Consultants can help to apply for a Work Permit for your FDW, collect the card and ensure that you fulfil all the necessary regulatory requirements (e.g. Medical Insurance, Security Bond and Personal Accident Insurance).

Near the end of the two years’ Work Permit, Sunstar Consultants will help you with their renewals.

Cancellation

We can provide you with the necessary assistance to cancel the FDW work permit as well as drop off your FDW’s cancelled Work Permit cards to MOM.

Repatriation

If you have to repatriate your FDW, Sunstar Consultants can provide you with the necessary assistance to repatriate her, including flight arrangements to most parts of Indonesia, Myanmar and India for your FDW at competitive rates.

Liaison with Embassies

Embassies of the respective source countries have many requirements. We can help you to renew your FDW passport, arrange for home leave and other necessary documentations.

Training

Settling-In-Programme (SIP)

All first-time FDWs have to attend the mandatory Settling-In-Programme (SIP) within the first three days of her arrival in Singapore and before being deployed to the household.

At Sunstar Consultants, we will ensure the FDWs complete this training within the 3-days timeframe (exclude Sundays and Public Holidays). The SIP syllabus can be found on MOM’s website.

Pre-Employment Training

Training your FDW and raising her competency level is part of helping her to do well in your household.

Support

Counselling services

Our FDWs come from various source countries, each with their unique culture, language and dietary habits, among others. If this is their first time working in Singapore, they would usually take some time to settle and assimilate into the local culture and living environment.

Our dedicated team of counsellors speak the languages of our FDWs and they are ready to assist if there are any communication gaps with you and your household members.

Prefer to speak to someone to guide you through the process? Leave your details and we’ll get in touch within 1 business day.
